Substance Abuse and Addiction

When substance abuse and addiction hits our homes we feel as if we are drowning; but we are afraid to ask for help because it would be admitting to the rest of the world that our family has a problem.  Addiction not only affects the individual, but it also affects our families. We shroud ourselves in secrecy to protect the alcoholic and addict, as well as ourselves.

Whether you are a family member or the one suffering from addiction; I can help explore the underlying issues being masked by the drug and alcohol use and facilitate the exploration of what help is available and what you can do to help yourself.

In our work together, you can expect a compassionate, non-judgmental environment. I bring over ten years of experience working with families and their loved ones who suffer from addiction. I am familiar with the Twelve Step fellowship and current theories on addiction. I am able to work with teens, as well as, adults as we navigate this emotional and difficult journey.

Familiar emotions of anger, resentment, sadness, co-dependency, depression and manipulation may all be experienced, but one by one we will work through each feeling together to create a safe and caring environment where solutions can be found.
